Stage 5: Lander, Wyoming
Hello race fans! Today we spent the day at the top of South Pass at the Louis Lake parking lot for Stage 5 of the Pedigree Stage Stop Dog Sled Race. Today's racers traveled 35 miles through the pine trees.

Luck was on our side today. Normally South Pass is very windy but today it was unusually calm. We welcomed the sun and warmer temperatures. We were joined by a group of students from Lander and a group of 2nd and 6th grade students from St. Stephen's School. They enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate and a tour of the staging area. The highlight of their day was cheering the mushers on as they crossed the finish line.

Rachael Courtney had some truck problems traveling to Lander last night. As usual with this group of mushers and race crew, it was all hands on deck. Everyone pitched in to be sure she and her dog crew arrived safely. Sportsmanship is something that all of the athletes in this race hold very highly.

Check out the results below. Anny had the fastest time and will be taking the yellow bib back from Lina for Fridays leg of the race in Driggs, Idaho. Racers, dogs and crew will get tomorrow off. I am sure they will welcome a day of rest and time to prepare for the last two stages of the race.
