Stage 1: Alpine, Wyoming
Mushers made the 37 mile trek from Jackson Hole to Stage 1 in Alpine, Wyoming. We spent the day surrounded by the Wyoming Range and the Salt River Range mountains. I am sure the dogs enjoyed the view as much as we did.

Today's race course was 28 miles long following the Grays River. The temperatures were above freezing shortly after the first team departed. While we loved the warmer weather, it is not ideal for the dogs. Alpine community members and visitors gave the mushers and dogs a great send off as they began their first stage.
Today we were joined by the Lundquist Family of Swan Valley, Idaho.
Anny Malo was the musher with the fastest time today. She ran the 28 mile course in just 1:43:59. Our second place musher was Lina Streeper with a time of 1:46:12. Lina was followed by Jeff Conn with a time of 1:48:57.
Anny will be presented with the Yellow Bib at tonights Meet and Greet Banquet in Pinedale. The musher with the fastest over all time for the day has the honor of wearing it in the next days race. Well done Anny!!
