Stage 1: Teton County, Wyoming

Today we spent the day in beautiful Teton County, Wyoming at the Blackrock Ranger Station. This trail was 28 miles. The dogs and mushers were anxious to hit the trail this morning. We watched the vets checking in on dogs and the trail crew preparing to head out on the trail ahead of the mushers. The trail crew are the first people out and the last in. They ensure that the trail is marked well and free of hazards.

Below is a photo of an event that happens each morning at 8:00. The musher's meeting takes place at the same time each morning. At this meeting mushers learn a little more about the trail, go over rules, and discuss any upcoming events.

The mushers left the gate according to bib order today. Tomorrow the musher with the slowest time will leave first and the musher with the quickest time will leave last.

Below are the results of Day 1. Anny Malo was the racer with the fastest time, followed closely by Alix Crittenden. Today we headed to Lander, Wyoming to prepare for Stage 2. Check back tomorrow to see the result and highlights from Lander's race.
