Stage 2: Lander, Wyoming
Today we raced at Bruce's Camp parking lot in beautiful Lander, Wyoming. Today's race was 35 miles up a set of switchbacks that the locals call the “Loop Road” before passing two lakes. It was fun to watch them climb up and disappear out of sight. Those dogs can sure move. Sled dogs love cold weather so they will be loved today’s cooler air.
We were joined by a large crowd that helped us send the mushers off on to the trail. The mushers love to hear the crowd help with the count down.

Anny Malo as she climbs the switchbacks. Look at those happy dogs!
While the mushers were out on the trail, the spectators enjoyed a warm cup of hot chocolate and biscuits and gravy. They also toured the staging area; meeting dogs and visiting with the handlers doing chores.

Dennis LaBoda and his son, Charlie at the starting line!
The musher with today’s fastest time was Anny Malo. Anny had a time of 2 hours and 26 seconds. She will wear the yellow bib in tomorrow’s race in Pinedale, Wyoming. Check back tomorrow for updates on your favorite musher!!
