Blizzard, Barking, and Big Fun in Kemmerer! β„οΈπŸΎπŸ†

Wow, what a wild and windy day we had here in Kemmerer, Wyoming! The snowflakes were swirling, the wind was howling, and at times, we thought we might just blow away! But guess who didn’t mind one bit? Our amazing sled dogs! These furry athletes were as excited as ever, ready to race through the winter wonderland.

Stage 4: Racing Through the Snow
Today's race took us on a 34-mile journey from the Hams Fork Trailhead and back. One of the things we love most about this stage is watching the mushers and their teams head out on the trail and then seeing them return from miles away. But with today’s swirling snow and gusty winds, we had to rely on our imaginations instead! Even though visibility was low, the excitement was HIGH!

We had an extra special cheering squad today! A big group from the Kemmerer community, along with a fantastic homeschool group, joined us to send the mushers off in style. With a loud and enthusiastic countdown from ten, the racers burst out of the chute, their dogs leaping forward with boundless energy. It was a thrilling sight! And as soon as the teams disappeared into the snowy wilderness, many of us hurried over to grab a warm cup of hot cocoa and a snack—because cheering is hard work! β˜•β„οΈ

Kemmerer’s Coolest Prize: A Fossil Fish! 🦴🐟
Did you know that Kemmerer is famous for its fossils? It’s home to some of the most amazing fossil quarries, where people can dig up and take home their very own prehistoric treasures! That’s why mushers LOVE this stage—because the winner doesn’t just get bragging rights; they also go home with a real fossil fish. How cool is that? Kemmerer is sometimes called “America’s Aquarium in Stone” because of all the ancient sea creatures preserved in rock. Want to learn more? The fossil fish given to today's musher with the fastest time. Amazing!!!!!

And the Winner Is… πŸ…
After an exciting day of racing, Anny Malo came out on top, earning herself a fossil fish and another impressive victory! She was closely followed by Bruce Magnusson and Alix Crittenden, who were right on her tail (literally!). These mushers and their incredible dogs put on a spectacular show of speed, skill, and teamwork.

Sounds like it was a great day on the trail!
