What an Exciting Two Days of Racing!

We had an amazing time racing at the Louis Lake Trailhead on historic South Pass, Wyoming! Did you know South Pass is famous for the Carissa Mine and tons of cool history? Check it out here: South Pass History.

One of the most fun parts of the race is in Lander, where the teams and their sled dogs take part in a downtown Meet & Greet! The whole community comes out to meet the mushers and their incredible dogs. Kids love getting up close to pet the dogs and hear stories from the racers. Tonight’s turnout was awesome!

South Pass is known for its snowy and windy winters, and wow—did we get to experience that firsthand during Stage 5 and Stage 6!

Below is a video of Austin Forney discussing his prerace preparations.

Stage 5: Racing Through the Wind and Snow!

The morning started with strong winds and swirling snow, but that didn’t slow down our excited four-legged athletes. The sled dogs were fired up, barking and howling, ready to hit the trail. With 35 miles of racing ahead, they could hardly wait to take off!

At 9:00 AM sharp, the mushers began their race, each team leaving the chute every three minutes. As soon as they were released, the dogs exploded down the trail, eager to leave the open, windy start behind and reach the shelter of the trees. The cold, blustery weather didn’t faze these incredible athletes—they live for this!

Today was a big shake-up in the race standings. Cathy Rivest flew across the finish line with the fastest time of the day! This was a huge moment because it was the first time this year that the yellow bib changed hands. Up until today, Anny Malo had held the yellow bib as the overall race leader, but with Cathy’s speedy run, she now gets the honor of wearing it for the next stage. That’s not all—Cathy and Anny have a fun connection. They’re sisters-in-law, making this a real family competition!

After a long day of racing, mushers and their dogs returned to the finish, tired but proud. The teams are pushing hard as we head into the final stretch of the 2025 Pedigree Stage Stop Race.

Only two days of racing remain! Will Cathy hold onto her yellow bib, or will Anny take it back? Could someone else rise to the top? Anything can happen in a race like this!

Stage 6: Racing Through the Snow!

Today was another exciting day on the 35-mile trail at the Louis Lake Trailhead. The mushers and their dogs faced blowing snow and fierce winds once again, but that didn’t slow down our incredible dog athletes. They were eager to run, tails wagging and paws pounding the snow as they prepared for another fast-paced race.

All eyes were on Cathy Rivest, who earned the fastest time yesterday and stepped up to the starting line wearing the yellow bib. She looked confident and ready to take on the course. As the teams left the chute, they were quickly swallowed by the swirling snow before disappearing into the trees, where most of their journey took place.

While the mushers tackled the course, spectators and crew enjoyed a special treat today. Our concession trailer served up hot pancakes and crispy bacon, a welcome change in the menu that kept everyone warm and fueled for the action ahead. Having our own food trailer on the road is a big bonus, and we all appreciated the delicious breakfast.

The race was fast today! After about two hours on the trail, teams started making their way back. The first musher to return? Cathy Rivest—again! She clocked in the fastest time for the second day in a row. Right behind her were Anny Malo and Stephane Roy, both pushing hard to stay in the top spots. Check out today's results below!!

Race fans, we are down to just one more day! Tomorrow, we head to Dubois, Wyoming, for Stage 7—the final leg of the 2025 Pedigree Stage Stop Race. Who will take home the overall win? Be sure to check back for the exciting results!
