Stage 7: Alpine, Wyoming
Today we woke up to warmer than usual temperatures as we headed to the Grays River Trail Head Parking Lot. It was a short drive from where the mushers and crew stayed last night. Today's in and out course was 32 miles.

We were very excited to be joined today by our largest field trip group so far on the race trail. We had elementary students from Afton Elementary, Thayne Elementary and Swan Valley School. The best part of the day was listening to 230 students counting down from 10 to send the racers out on the trail. Many of them had signs for their favorite racers.

After all the mushers were out on the trail, the kids split into groups to sled, tour the staging area, or enjoy a cup of hot chocolate. On our tour we were invited into a trailer to look at the different ways that the mushers transport their dogs and to watch the vet team in action. The sledding hill was also a huge hit.
The musher to cross the finish line today was Anny Malo with a time of 2:05:51. Anny was followed closely by Alix Crittenden with a time of 2:07:56. Our thirdplace musher today was Cathy Rivest with a time of 2:09:31.

Today's finishing times in Alpine, Wyoming.

Overall times after Stage 7.
Check back tomorrow as we travel to Driggs, Idaho for the final stage of this year’s race.
